Onions have an expectorant effect and fight microorganisms such as bacteria.
That means onions can even help fight vocal cord inflammation. You can make an onion syrup from 3 to 4 onions which you chop and put in a saucepan. Let the onions simmer over low to medium heat until the mixture develops a syrupy consistency. Take 5 tablespoons of this onion syrup and pour them into a glass of warm water. Add a tablespoon of honey and a few drops of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Drink the drink three times a day very slowly over a period of two weeks. Onions can also be used as a neck wrap to relieve the symptoms of vocal cord inflammation.

Ginger is a medicinal plant that is used in many ways in natural medicine. Fresh ginger soothes the inflamed mucous membranes of the larynx and soothes a sore throat. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiviral properties, fresh ginger can help to counteract inflammation of the vocal cords and alleviate the symptoms. Put a teaspoon of freshly grated ginger in a cup with hot, boiled water and cover the vessel. Let the ginger steep for 10 minutes to get a strong concentration in the water. herbal tea

Herbal tea is an effective home remedy that can be used in many ways to treat vocal cord inflammation. You can inhale, drink or gargle herbal tea. Chamomile tea has an anti-inflammatory effect, while peppermint, thyme and sage tea have a decongestant effect. Bay leaf tea is an insider tip for inflammation of the throat and vocal cords. To inhale the herbal tea, you can put the boiled tea in a bowl and inhale the water vapor with the dissolved tea components. If you want to gargle with the tea, it is best to gargle for about two minutes every two hours and then spit out the liquid. So that the tea is strongly concentrated, you should let it steep a little longer. You can drink lots of tea instead or in addition. Herbal tea effectively relieves discomfort and calms the vocal cords while drinking.

Inhalation of essential oils

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil has anti-inflammatory effects and promotes wound healing in the skin and mucous membranes. Tea tree oil is particularly often used for cold symptoms and, thanks to its anti-inflammatory component, can relieve the symptoms of various types of inflammation. Tea tree oil can be used to inhale for vocal cord inflammation. For this you put a few drops of tea tree oil in a vessel with hot water, cover yourself and the bowl with a towel and inhale the water vapor. However, the steam should not get into the eye, as this will cause irritation there. Please read the package insert accordingly.

Gargle with salt water

Lukewarm salt water is a simple home remedy for a sore throat and inflammation of the vocal cords. The salt water has an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. The warm water also calms the throat. Mix a teaspoon of normal table salt with about 250 milliliters of water and gargle the solution every two hours for about 2 minutes. Then you spit out the salt water. In the case of injuries, such as small wounds in the oral cavity, salt water must not be used for gargling. The salt causes a burning pain in injuries to the oral cavity. Therefore, if you are injured, you should gargle with chamomile or sage tea. Teas alleviate the symptoms and have a healing effect on small wounds in the oral mucosa.

Neck wrap

Neck wraps are a traditional way to relieve the symptoms of sore throats such as vocal cord inflammation and hoarseness. For a quark wrap, you apply low-fat quark half a centimeter thick to a cloth. You fold the sides of the cloth so that the quark is inside. This quark wrap is pressed against the neck for 15 minutes; it can be temporarily fastened with a dry cloth or scarf. The quark for this should not come straight from the refrigerator, but ideally at room temperature. A quark wrap should be put on once a day.

For an onion wrap, heat three finely chopped onions in the oven and spread the pieces in a linen cloth. You fold the cloth back so that the onions are inside and put it around your neck. The wrap can be fixed with another cloth and left on the neck until the wrap no longer radiates heat. The onion wrap can be used up to three times a day.
