Recipes for cough syrup

General

A cough syrup (antitussive) is a medicine that suppresses or dampens the coughing. Mostly, the basis for a cough syrup is a simple syrup (syrupus simplex, purified water and table sugar) or an alcoholic solution.

There are many brands and manufacturers, from which one can buy cough syrups in pharmacies and partly also in drugstores. In addition, there is also the option of making cough syrup yourself. Below are some recipes to be called.

Recipe 1

For this purpose, several lemons are peeled and then cut into thin slices. These are then placed layer by layer in a bowl and each layer is individually sprinkled with sugar. This is then allowed to stand for 12-14 hours and then 3x / tgl of the pulp, juice and sugar mass. each 1 tb taken. The rest is kept in the fridge.

Recipe 2

In the pharmacy you can buy dried Icelandic moss. Take two heaped teaspoons, pour over cold water, bring to a boil and then cook. Drink 2-3 cups lukewarm daily of this brew and sweeten with honey if necessary.

Recipe 3

The winter vegetables black radish is halved and eroded. Then fill both halves with untreated honey and leave to soak for 12 hours. Take 1 tsp. Of the resulting juice daily before meals and keep the remainder of the cough syrup in the refrigerator.

Recipe 4

Bring one handful of thyme, peppermint, sage and ribwort together in one liter of water, strain and drink with plenty of honey throughout the day. Drink in a sip (warm up again and again, so that it is drunk lukewarm).

Recipe 5

Finely chop 100 g of onion, then add 100 g of rock candy and bring to the boil until the sugar has dissolved. Strain carefully and strain 3 tbsp / day. Keep the rest in the fridge.

Recipe 6

Thinly slice a large, juicy onion and place in a bowl. Then sprinkle the onion slices with a thick layer of sugar (2 cm thick) and place in the oven for 5 hours at 50 degrees. The sugar is liquefied by the onion juice and absorbs the antibacterial ingredients of the onion. Take 1 tbsp every 2 hours until the coughing gets better.

Recipe 7

Pour three teaspoons of crushed anise and three teaspoons of thyme with 0.5 l of boiling water and cover for 5 min. Add the juice of a lemon and sweeten the broth with honey. Then drink slowly as soon as it is not too hot anymore.

Recipe 8

Boil raisins, dark sugar candy, chamomile and coltsfoot in water. Of it every hour something to drink.

Recipe 9

Boil half a liter of natural apple juice with 100 g of sugar and a finely chopped fennel tuber and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Then take this juice spoon-wise within 2 hours.

Recipe 10

Boil 25 g ribwort in a pint of water and sauté after half an hour. Add 175 ml of forest honey when the brew has cooled to approximately 40 degrees and stir until the honey has dissolved. Cool then put in a bottle and seal. Take one teaspoon of the juice three times a day.
