Arsenic triiodide

introduction

The 24th Schüßler salt Arsenicum jodatum (also Arsenum iodatum) is used especially for lung diseases and allergies such as hay fever.

It is also the main remedy for:

  • tuberculosis
  • lung infection
  • pleurisy

Use of Arsenicum jodatum for the following complaints

  • weakness
  • Night sweats and
  • emaciation
  • acne
  • Allergies
  • hay fever

What effects does Arsenicum jodatum have?

The original substance of this Schüssler salt preparation is arsenic triiodide, so it contains the chemical elements arsenic and iodine.

Arsenic is known to many people for its toxic effects, but arsenic is considered a trace element in small doses. In contrast to most other trace elements, it is not fully understood which functions arsenic takes on in the body.
However, experiments on an arsenic-free diet in animals have shown growth disorders as a possible consequence of arsenic deficiency. It is therefore assumed that humans have a basic requirement of arsenic, albeit a very low one, of 5 to 50 micrograms per day.

The substance iodine is needed in the body in the thyroid gland. This is where the thyroid hormone thyroxine is produced, which - generally speaking - is responsible for the metabolism. A deficiency in iodine leads to a goiter as the thyroid tries to store and store more iodine. If there is a long-term iodine deficiency, a deficiency in thyroid hormone is the further consequence.

A bad metabolism as well as brittle nails and hair, dry skin and exhaustion or even depressive mood can indicate an iodine deficiency, which can be alleviated by using Arsenum iodatum.

What are the side effects of Arsenicum jodatum?

Even if arsenic compounds are already toxic to humans and animals in low doses, there is no need to worry when taking this Schüssler salt: The preparations are so diluted that they hardly contain any molecules of the element arsenic.
The same applies to iodine: hardly any molecules of this are left in the preparation either. No side effects are to be expected from treatment with Arsenum iodatum.

Nevertheless, a certain degree of caution is required, especially with self-therapy. Long-term therapy with this Schuessler salt is only recommended after consultation with an appropriate specialist such as a non-medical practitioner or a pharmacist.

Usual dosage

Common:

  • Tablets, (drops) D4, D6
  • Ampoules D6

Arsenicum jodatum globules

Like other Schuessler salts, Arsenum iodatum can also be given in the form of globules. In this case, the power D12 is usually chosen. How many globules of it can then be taken at once should, however, always be discussed with the treating naturopath.
Because even if the concentration of arsenic triiodide in the globules is usually extremely low or zero due to the homeopathic manufacturing process, arsenic, as a carcinogenic substance, should always be used with caution.

Homeopathic drug Similiaplex

The homeopathic drug Similiaplex is now available from different manufacturers and in different compositions. Similiaplex is a complex remedy, that is, the preparations contain various homeopathic medicines that are tailored to the treatment of a certain clinical picture.
According to German law, homeopathic medicinal products may only be sold without a therapeutic indication, which means that there is no application area for the substances prescribed by the manufacturer.

A Similiaplex preparation containing Arsenum iodatum could, however, be used, among other things, for metabolic disorders caused by an underactive thyroid. A suitably trained person should be consulted on this before use.
